One of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education and training in the UK, The University of Law (ULaw), sent a delegation to India for the “Changing Paradigms in Legal Practice - A Technological Perspective from the UK” conference at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) on 16 October.
The ULaw delegation, led by Professor Andrea Nollent, the Vice-Chancellor and CEO, visited India from 14 – 17 October and also met with UPES colleagues at the Kandoli and Bidholi campuses to discuss further strategic partnerships.
ULaw took part in the UPES/ULaw Legal Conference on 16 October in Delhi, as well as undertaking high-level discussions with higher education institutions in India. In addition to Professor Nollent, the ULaw delegation consisted of Vassilis Konstantinou, Pro Vice-Chancellor – International Development, Joanna Ballard, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Academic Development, and Tatiana Rizopoulou, Director of International Partnerships.
UPES, the leading University in Dehradun, offers various courses in Law, Management, Business, Engineering, Architecture, and the Design sector. This portfolio complements ULaw’s offer enabling the two institutions to create new interdisciplinary courses that will address the needs of both the Indian and UK markets.
This partnership between ULAW and UPES will enable both staff and student mobility between the two institutions and enhance research in law and business education. It will allow UPES graduates to progress to post-grad courses at ULaw as well as allowing for faculty and student exchanges and summer schools. Students on the UPES LLB will also be able to take options and modules from the ULaw online LLB during the 2019/20 academic year. ULaw teaching staff will join the teaching teams at UPES and help with the teaching of two modules as part of the programme.
Both the ULaw LLB and the UPES LLΒ are recognised by the Bar Council of India.
