Peter Crisp appointed Dean of new Hong Kong campus

The University of Law (ULaw) has announced the appointment of current Pro Vice Chancellor External, Professor Peter Crisp, as Dean of its new Hong Kong campus.

Peter Crisp officially began his new role as Dean on 1 March 2019 and will be leading the launch of ULaw’s first international campus.

Peter, a qualified barrister, joined ULaw in January 2018 as Pro Vice Chancellor External. He will continue to have responsibility for business development, professional development programmes and apprenticeships, alongside his role on the Hong Kong campus.

In Hong Kong Peter will be working with local regulators, including the Hong Kong Law Society, and engaging with international law firms and the local legal community, ahead of the campus opening. The new role will also see Peter recruiting staff for the university, including both faculty and business professionals.

ULaw Hong Kong will welcome students from September 2019, and will bring its wide portfolio of professional law degrees, specialist legal training and on-going professional development courses for barristers and solicitors. The University’s aim is to raise the bar when it comes to the provision of quality education in Hong Kong, creating new opportunities for the region’s aspiring legal professionals.

Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice Chancellor and CEO at The University of Law, said: “We recognised Hong Kong as a key growth area for ULaw and have made a multi-million-pound investment in establishing a long-term presence there.

“We’re delighted to appoint Peter as the first Dean for the new Hong Kong Campus. Peter has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and he has a proven track record in working with a team and forging successful relationships with law firms to deliver best in class legal education. I’m confident that under Peter’s leadership, ULaw will become a household name in the Hong Kong legal community.”

Peter Crisp said: “To have been appointed as Dean for ULaw’s first international campus is an honour. I’m confident that the Hong Kong campus will fast become a hub for legal education in the region, bringing ULaw’s renowned expertise in professional and vocational training to an entirely new market.”
